Pass/Fail Option
Students may exercise an opportunity to take one course pass/fail once during their Gilmour tenure. For the purposes of this policy, a course is defined as either an independent semester course or a year-long course comprised of two semesters of coursework. The rules for applying this option are as follows:
-
The option is not available for courses that fulfill a GA graduation requirement including distribution requirements.
-
The option is not available for AP or KAP courses.
-
Students must apply for the option by October 15th for courses taken in the Fall semester or April 1st for courses taken in the Spring.
-
Applications for the Pass/Fail Option require signatures from student, a parent and the grade level counselor.
-
Students taking a course pass/fail will be awarded a "P" or "F" only at the end of the semester; all progress reports will show the letter grade.
-
Courses taken as pass/fail will still be used to determine academic eligibility for extracurricular activities.
-
Courses taken as pass/fail basis will not figure into calculations of a student's GPA.
