OGT Resources

All students earning a high school diploma in the State of Ohio are required to pass the Ohio Graduation Tests. The OGTs consist of five tests focusing on Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Science and Social Studies and are offered twice a year. Students generally take them in the second semester of their sophomore year and subsequently have four more chances to make up any tests that were failed or missed.

The OGTs will next be offered during the week of November 2nd. At this time the test will be administered to students who are new to Ohio as well as those who have to make up tests either missed or failed when the test was last administered in March. All students to be tested in November will be notified of that fact by the middle of October.

Students who must retake tests that they have failed can expect to receive help from their teachers who are working in the test subject failed. In addition, the links to the left provide resources to help students work on their own to prepare for the OGTs. The State of Ohio offers a variety of helpful preparation tools including tests from previous years which students can download and use for practice. That site also provides practice tests that can be taken online for immediate feedback. Clark State Community College also furnishes online practice tests for the Mathematics portion of the OGT.

Please take advantage of these resources to help your student prepare and, if there is anything else that GA can do, please contact Mrs. Pat Brubaker, Director of Counseling, at (440) 684-4563 or Dr. James Gutowski, Director of Academic Services, at (440) 684-4542. You may also send email to either person simply by clicking on their names.
